One of our customers drives a Tesla Model 3 Performance, so while we were installing fresh tires (something that he often needs due to the combination of enthusiastic driving and weight), he let us take it out for a rip to see what the Tesla Model 3 Performance is all about. This is a pre refresh Model 3 Performance, so it's likely that the new one is even better. What's immediately apparent about the Tesla Model 3 is how fast it is but also how quiet it is. The seats are large and comfy, the screen is huge, and the interior is very well isolated. We've always said that commuting in an EV makes a certain kind of sense considering those attributes, and to have the party trick of insane speed at your disposal whenever you want it is kind of addictive. Most of the obvious complaints about the Tesla Model 3 Performance are present of course: it's too clinical, not enough noise, and it weighs more than most ICE sports sedans. Those are all valid points, but taken as a whole the Tesla Model 3 Performance is an impressive machine that still manages to feel futuristic in some ways even though it has been out for quite some time now. With the right suspension and tires, there's no doubt that the Tesla Model 3 Performance could blitz a racetrack, but the main question is... for how long. Eventually, the juice or the tires (or both) are going to give out. The EV future looks promising though, if a bit too quiet.
