Tesla’s long-awaited India arrival begins with the Model Y. With clean lines, a minimalist interior, and a tech-forward approach, this electric SUV stands out, but at ₹60-68 lakh (ex-showroom), is it too bold for its own good? Let’s find out in this video.
Design
The Model Y slots between mid-size SUVs like the Tucson in size, but its coupe-like shape and 938-litre boot make it more practical than it looks. Add the front trunk (frunk), and it’s properly road-trip ready.
Interior
It’s all-screen-everything inside, including a crisp 15.4-inch central display that controls nearly every function. Rear passengers get their own screen too. Materials feel premium, though Apple CarPlay/Android Auto are still missing.
Performance
Instant torque and silent power define the drive. Even the RWD does 0-100 km/h in 5.9 seconds. Ride quality is good on smooth roads, but rough patches can unsettle it. The low-set battery helps with handling.
Range and charging
Up to 622 km (WLTP) in Long Range spec, and can charge up to 250 kW, if you find a Supercharger nearby. Home charging remains essential for now.
Futuristic, fast, and full of flair, the Model Y is peak Tesla. But it’s also pricey, with a sparse service network and limited localisation.
