It’s been a long time coming - four years - but Nissan Australia has finally launched its midsize Ariya crossover to take on electric all-comers from China and Korea, and with Tesla Model Y firmly in its cross-hairs.
Launched in four variant guises in both single- and dual-motor forms, the Ariya kicks off at $55,840 in single-motor 160kW/300Nm Engage form and tops out with the primary subject of our test, the flagship dual-motor 290kW/600Nm Evolve, priced from $71,840 list.
Chasing Cars contributor Nathan Ponchard takes the Ariya for a full-road test to decide if the newcomer is contemporary enough, different enough and techy enough to compete with the slew of new Chinese EV rivals in Australia.
