Tesla Model X Road Trip: Why I Still Miss It (But Don’t Want One)

While my Cybertruck was back at Tesla for yet another service appointment, I was handed a Model X loaner for a busy weekend filled with a birthday, a band championship, and a whole lot of parenting on the road.

This Model X is a 2022 7-seater with white interior and yoke steering wheel. While I did enjoy the comfort and suspension (and yes, I still miss that quiet cabin), this road trip reminded me exactly why I don’t want to own one again. From weird glitches like the door that closes on its own, to the lack of space, outlets, and utility — it just doesn’t work for how we roll as a family.

I’ll show you how we packed, used Starlink on the road, powered our electric kettle with the Anker Solix, and made the best of the night despite missing gear. We fed the kids, tracked our trip data, and got home well past midnight after an emotional final band competition.

I’ll share my thoughts on the Model X. Tesla needs to make some serious changes.
