...Source: https://insideevs.com/news/770411/tesla-cybertruck-rubicon-stuck-video/ Transcript: Per InsideEVs, a Tesla Cybertruck’s attempt to conquer California’s brutal Rubicon Trail ended in a multi-day breakdown. Despite being upgraded with rock sliders, skid plates, and a lift kit, the electric truck suffered multiple tie rod failures, error codes, and ultimately a cracked steering rack that left it stranded for three days. The trip, which should’ve taken a couple of days, ended up lasting a full week—four days of which were spent stuck on Cadillac Hill.
The Cybertruck had to be towed by a Jeep Wrangler through some of the most difficult sections and recharged mid-trail by a fellow off-roader with a generator. Eventually, a group of off-roaders who also happened to work for Tesla saw its plight on social media, brought spare parts, and got it running again. It limped its way to the end under its own power.
The driver, Roger Davis, said he wouldn’t recommend the Rubicon for other Cybertruck owners unless they’re extremely well-prepared. Meanwhile, it’s worth noting that a Rivian R1S completed the same trail in 2023—on stock tires, no less. The Rubicon remains a tough challenge, even for rugged electric trucks.
