People are fed up with the prices of new trucks! Inventory levels are shooting to the moon just as quick as the MSRPs are. People are refusing to buy new trucks for good reason... I talk through it all in this video!
Points discussed:
- Quality is down, prices are up
- Chevy just announced their huge recall of approximately 600,000 V8 trucks and SUVs!
- Chevy Silverado 1500, GMC Sierra 1500, Yukon, Yukon XL, Tahoe, Suburban, Cadillac Escalade. All with the 6.2L L87 engine, the big V8.
- Rod bearing issues, lifter problems causing engine failure.
- Lifter issues have plagued the platform for years, now they’re finally taking action to fix it.
- Kind of comical as GM just earned the “most ethical” automotive company in 2024.
- Stop sale in effect on 2024 units, not 2025… would hate to impact sales
- Chevys having endless transmission issues
- Toyota Tacomas are straight garbage… zero quality control.
- Tacomas comes with rattling loose components, faulty transmissions, shotty panel gaps, and tiny wind-up toy engines.
- The Toyota Tundra issued the huge safety recall in their faulty main crankshaft bearings…. Due to debris being left in the engine bays during production.
- Ford is subject to it all too… America’s best selling pickup for 48 years.
- Death rattle of the 3.5l ecoboost motor. Cam phaser failures… replacement is a huge pain. Large cost.
- Intake valve failure… dropping a valve into the cylinder, causing engine failure.
- Transmission issues… Hard shifting, rough or jerky shifts, especially during acceleration and deceleration, are common.
- F150 Engine misfires
- Oil pan gasket leaks… plastic oil pans with RTV seal instead of gaskets.
- Ignition coil failures, spark plug ejection, head gasket leaks on the 5.0l V8.
- Power steering whine and fluid leaks.
- Electrical system issues.
- Ram trucks are subject to a slew of issues too.
- Rams often come with transmission malfunctions, engine issues, brake and safety system malfunctions, and electrical problems.
- Hemi tick… 3rd brake light leak.
- Rams are deceiving, often come with a very nice interior… but the quality is lackluster.
- EV trucks are laughable… Tesla Cybertrucks are failing apart. Getting keyed by blue haired weirdo.
- Hummer EV was the largest flop, over 100K for a crab walking POS that weighs over 9000 lbs! Now dealers can’t even give them away. $20-30K off with 0% interest rates.
- Rivian has taken an enormous hit to their stock price. EVs thrive when money is cheap… and when the economy is good.
- The major problem with modern trucks is, they’re being stuffed to the gills with tech and creature comforts.
- Price tags have gotten out of touch with reality.
- If you want a diesel, forget about it!
- Chevy, Ram, Ford, Toyota and Nissan are trying to normalize $80-100K trucks! It’s sickening.
- Very few affordable options now days… simple, reliable and affordable no longer exists.
- All of the heightened EPA restrictions and standards have forced the hands of manufacturers to over complicate these trucks.
- Emissions standards have taken away from so many platforms.
- So many trucks are coming with smaller displacement motors with turbos strapped to them.
- So many hybrid options being forced. No thank you!
Few Reliable Options:
- Nissan Frontier
- Nissan Titan (gone in 2024)
- 2021 and older Toyota Tundra
- 2023 and older Tacoma
Let me know your thoughts on all this. Dealers are struggling bad to move this inventory. Their truck and large SUV inventory is just sitting, collecting dust. What needs to happen for dealerships to actually start selling vehicles?
